In a new post on Twitter, the NBC series itself confirms that you will see Taylor take on this role for the upcoming season 17. Her episodes won’t air in the early going, as she is likely to be involved in either the Battle or Knockout phase. In the past, we’d say that she is the Knockout mentor and be done with it, but we’ve seen now that The Voice as a series has no real problem with swapping around its format here and there. Take what they did last season with the Cross-Battles, something that we would say in retrospect is a rather big mess. It basically became a mechanism for America to vote more of Blake Shelton’s team onto the show for a longer period of time.

While we don’t think that these mentors get to spend necessarily days upon days with some of the contestants, we do think that there’s going to be an opportunity for these people to spend time with someone who has worked tirelessly throughout her career in order to produce music that is uniquely her own. She’s been in this industry for a huge chunk of her and we do think that her knowledge, to go along with her keen eye, will matter a great deal.

In the end, we’ll have to see the contestants to know whether or not this will be a good season. This is what ultimately makes The Voice go ’round more than any other thing.
