When NCIS: New Orleans season 6 episode 2 airs on CBS on October 1, you’re going to get another reminder of Pride’s humanity. While it’s true that he is a tough-as-nails guy intent on stopping bad guys, he’s also someone who lives and breathes like anyone else.

Sometimes, we do tend to elevate these crime-TV heroes into some invincible figures who can be involved in shootout after shootout and not have it impact them. This is one of the things that NCIS: New Orleans has done a good job of over the years — showing the aftereffects to whatever happens to Pride. That was a big component to the Angel of Death storyline last year; it was a way to give him a different view of his consciousness, while also nodding to the somewhat-supernatural nature of New Orleans lore. This is a place filled with ghost stories, urban legends, voodoo and the like.

“The Terminator Conundrum” – NCIS investigates a private plane crash after a Navy pilot says she saw an unidentified object prior to the crash. Also, Pride suffers from insomnia and nightmares as a result of being kidnapped and drugged last year, on “NCIS: NEW ORLEANS,” Tuesday, Oct. 1 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

As you dive into this episode, one of the things that will be pretty evident is that Pride is going to be suffering. Is there a way to heal that? Is there a way to make some of the pain go away? He can throw himself into his work, but really this is a situation where he’s going to need to rely on those who are close to him in order to get on the other side of this.

What we have to wonder beyond this episode is this: How long will these nightmares last?
