The Resident season 3 promo spotlights Morris Chestnut front and center

While just about every show on TV has some new additions this fall, very few of them are the excellent combination of Morris Chestnut and The Resident. The former Rosewood and The Enemy Within star is coming on board for a major arc this fall, and in the promo that we have for you below, you have a chance to learn a little bit more about him.

So what is confirmed at the moment? It goes a little something along these lines. Chestnut is playing Dr. Barrett Cain, a new addition to the Chastain staff and someone who comes in with a lot of ideas. He’s extremely skilled, equally confident, and is willing to do whatever it takes in order to ensure that there are some medical miracles.

Yet, how much does he care about the patients as opposed to himself? That’s the question to wonder through much of this season, as he’s going to be looking to rise through the ranks and use his skills to his advantage. Take, for example, his interest in taking on risky surgeries. If he manages to make the impossible possible, then he looks like a hero and everyone loves him. However, even if he falls just the smallest bit short, it looks like he did everything that he could. This is a part of his MO, and we have to imagine that he will end up clashing with a number of other doctors at Chastain. One of the things that we’ve definitely learned over time is that a lot of the other doctors/characters are not about personal achievements over helping patients.

The Resident season 3 will premiere on Fox in just under two weeks. It’s nice to know that we won’t have to wait too much more to see these characters in action. (We say this still knowing that the premiere could have a devastating storyline for Nic.)
