Suits season 9 episode 9 preview: Harvey tries to say goodbye

Suits season 9 episode 9 will be coming onto USA next week, and it feels clear already that things are going to be emotional. How much so? There’s a chance that there could be a wedding … but also a funeral before the closing minutes.

The network has yet to reveal any official details about the upcoming episodes, but there are a couple different assumptions that we can make based on the way that tonight’s installment ended.

We do have to start here with the emotional aftermath of tonight’s big reveal: The death of Harvey’s mother. With the way that we saw Harvey forgive her and try to move forward earlier this season, we felt the spectre of the Grim Reaper coming. This is how TV shows often like to kill off important characters — Harvey finally gets the closure that he needed, only to then get the devastating news that she is gone. The moment at the end of tonight’s episode was heart-wrenching and through what’s coming next, Harvey is going to have to deal with that. It could require him leaning on the rest of the firm — not as colleagues, but rather as family. They mean so much more to him than just people who work within the same building.

As for a happier subject, we also wonder if this is where we’re going to see Louis and Sheila get married! He decided that this is something that he wanted to do tonight, but that was before the news about Harvey’s mother first came out. Will this change how Louis feels? That’s hard to say, but we know that he will want to support Harvey. It’s possible that this could be a story for the series finale, whereas episode 9 will revolve a little more around saying goodbye to Harvey’s mother and if he is able to find a way to grapple with tremendous grief.
