The Masked Singer season 2 promo offers first identity clues!

While you’re going to have to wait over two weeks to get a good sense of The Masked Singer season 2 in full, the latest Fox promo does offer up some clues! Yet, they are not clues in the way that you would first think.

Rather than give you clips of some of these masked characters singing, the network decides to tell you here some of the prestige of their contestants this time around. There are Olympians amidst the group this year, just as there are also Emmy winners, Super Bowl champions, Hall of Famers, Grammy winners, and also (apparently) people who have had plenty of marriages and divorces. They really spell everything out there!

While it seems like there will be contestants this season who are very good singers, we kind of love that The Masked Singer continues to bring on board people from outside the vocal-superstar world. This is what we like about it! We already know that people like Donny Osmond and Gladys Knight can sing; it’s the element of surprise from elsewhere that adds to the fun. Think in terms of what Rumer Willis brought to the table on the show last season, or even what we saw from the eventual champion in T-Pain. While he may have been a recording artist, we don’t think that most casual music fans knew that he had anywhere near the voice that he does.

Here is the reminder that all future The Masked Singer performances will be judged with the standard being the Monster’s performance of “Stay With Me.” The bar has been set very high!

We hope for surprises when the new season premieres but we’re also just hoping for fun. This is a chance for all of us to have a great time and have the biggest smile possible when the dust settles.
