At the moment, there is no guarantee that we’re going to be seeing a Hawaii Five-0 / Magnum PI crossover at some point this season. Yet, let’s make it clear that there is a serious interest in one happening. That’s true for fans, and that is also true for executive producer Peter M. Lenkov.
Speaking via TVLine, the showrunner noted that there is an idea that they have figured out for a possible crossover — now, it just becomes about trying to find a way to make that happen. That is easier said that done. While the two shows do film in close proximity to one other, there are still a lot of logistical issues that would need to be planned out in order to make something happen. You have to schedule out when the actors are going to be appearing on various shows and when as well as needing to make sure that CBS is on board. That is probably the biggest thing to take care of right away since without the support of the network, the idea goes nowhere and it more or less dies out.

We know that there is a dream out there of a possible three-show crossover event happening someday involving both of these series and then also MacGyver, but for the time being, we do consider that to be reasonably unlikely. Why would we ever anticipate such a thing coming to pass, given that MacGyver films on the other side of the United States? The simple answer to it is that you wouldn’t. That feels like too much of a logistical nightmare, even if it’s something that a lot of the cast and producers would want to see. Another challenge now is that with MacGyver not premiering until midseason, it’s going to be a little bit harder to pull off than ever before.
Hawaii Five-0 season 10 and Magnum PI season 2 are both premiering on Friday, September 27. For the immediate future, let’s just stay focused on the first few episodes of each — after all, they have exciting stuff coming up! You can read more about the Hawaii Five-0 premiere over here.
