Grey’s Anatomy season 16 premiere spoilers: ‘Nothing Left to Cling To’
Think about where we are entering this first episode, airing on September 26. Meredith, Webber, and Alex have all lost their jobs. Meanwhile, there’s a chance Ellen Pompeo’s character could go to prison! Her entire professional future could be in tatters, while Maggie may find herself heartbroken over whatever she finds when it comes to Jackson. There are so many question marks following the big finale, where Jesse Williams’ character disappeared into that now-infamous fog. If you missed it, we broke down the future for Jackson yesterday over at the link here.

Meanwhile, Tom gets new responsibilities at the hospital that throw the doctors for a loop.

One thing that’s immediately exciting about reading this is noting that Tom gets mentioned on his own in the synopsis, a sign that he’s no longer just this recurring character or this accessory to what’s going on with Teddy or Amelia. Greg Germann is a series regular now, so we’re hoping that this is just the beginning to some other great stuff that is coming up for him.
As many of you know, almost all Grey’s Anatomy episodes are named after songs — there is at least one song that we’ve found (via The Buckinghams) bearing the name “Nothing Left to Cling To.” We do wonder sometimes if they come up with a title first and look to see if there’s a song with that name second; or, they think about a song title first and then just make sure the episode fits it.
