Law & Order: SVU season 21 video: Mariska Hargitay on show’s legacy
What’s great about the behind-the-scenes video HERE is that it gives you a chance to bear witness to some nostalgia, as there is an early clip of Mariska Hargitay talking about the show out there. Meanwhile, there’s also video in here of Hargitay today talking about the continued power of SVU, including why it’s managed to surpass even the original Law & Order in terms of longevity on the air. Viewers watch the show for the entertainment value sure, but there is something more than that present here. SVU is also a show that offers up healing to survivors and people who have gone through unspeakable things. While these characters are fictional, it’s meant to mirror real-life people within the NYPD who are fighting for victims and making sure that justice is served. Even though not every case is met with the desired end, you at least see the SVU team fight — and Olivia Benson and company never give up.

From the get-go, we know that SVU season 21 is going to be showcasing some of the biggest cases possible. That’s why you are going to have a titan in this industry like Ian McShane in the premiere. Following that, you’re also going to have a chance to see Ariel Winter soon after, and we imagine that there are a plethora of other notable names who will surface from now until we get around to the midway point of the season.
