Empire season 6 premiere spoilers: The Lyon family’s new lives
Entering the Empire season 6 premiere on September 24, are we going to see a very different show? On the surface, that appears possible. We know entering this final batch of episodes that a number of things are going to be different. Jussie Smollett is not returning, Lucious is now separate from the rest of the family, and Empire itself will have someone new at the top.
Eventually, you gotta imagine that all of these family members are going to collide against each other once more … but that’s not something that is going to happen right away. The writers will take their time before figuring out some of these twists and turns … or at least unleashing some of them upon their audience.

Golden Globe-nominated EMPIRE kicks off its final season as one of television history’s most popular and acclaimed shows. Lucious, who is now a wanted fugitive, is on the run from the Feds. Cookie keeps busy by focusing on her brand outside of Empire, which now includes a daytime talk show and a community center. Andre, currently sitting on the Empire throne, is confronted by several people who now want to get in on the company and Hakeem sets his sights on the lead role in the first EMPIRE movie. Meanwhile, Becky and Giselle search for their first Bossy Media artist in the all-new “What Is Love” Season Six premiere episode of EMPIRE airing Tuesday, Sept. 24 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. We suppose that we should probably start things off here by noting this — there are a lot of worlds in which we would actually sit down to watch an Empire talk show hosted by Cookie. Taraji P. Henson could sort of do that crazy thing where she hosts a show as a character and never breaks! In terms of drama, we’re looking towards what’s happening with Lucious as the big source for conflict. It’s kinda hard not to when you think about some of what he’s going to be going through.
