Tom Welling denies any Crisis On Infinite Earths chatter
We have seen actors from Smallville make appearances already on Supergirl, so it obviously makes sense that there would be interest in seeing Welling play a part — whether it be Superman or someone else. We also do wonder, though, whether or not Smallville is still considered too recent and the Arrowverse wants to avoid Superman comparisons. (Yet, Brandon Routh is going to be able to play Superman again.)
While at an appearance at a recent Fan Expo event (via ComicBook.com), Welling made it clear in a discussion with his former co-star Michael Rosenbaum that he is not coming back — while also joking about Michael’s status:
“Whatever this Crisis thing you guys are talking about, it’s not happening. Sorry to disappoint you guys. Michael’s doing it, but I’m not.”
Following this, Rosenbaum quickly responded and denied some of the rumors:
“Hang on, hang on, hang on. No, he’s messing around. First of all, the question about the Infinite Crisis thing, no one has even talked to us. So online when I go, ‘I don’t know what the hell they’re talking about,’ I don’t know what the hell they’re talking about! So we don’t know anything about this stuff.”
For now, we’ll just have to settle for the million or so other appearances/cameos that we’re going to get during the crossover, which is set to span five separate hours and feature the biggest storyline for all of the various CW heroes. We are excited to see what happened, but also nervous since if this is anything like the comics, we’re sure that someone will end up dying … and that someone could end up being someone major and someone who makes us sad.
