Dancing with the Stars season 28: What pro isn’t planning to watch?

The premiere of Dancing with the Stars season 28 is coming in just two weeks, and there’s still a lot of controversy behind the scenes. Some of it — the addition of Sean Spicer to the cast — has generated a lot of attention. The omission of some popular pros is another notable subject.

We’ve written in the past about Sharna Burgess not being a part of this upcoming season; yet, we haven’t spoken about Artem Chigvintsev’s omission until now. Artem’s been a part of the show for the past several years and danced with a number of celebrities — he’s not just a one-season pro who was just getting his feet wet with the show.

In the wake of him not being chosen to take part in the new season, Artem went so far as to speak to Entertainment Tonight as to whether or not he will watch the upcoming season:

“I think as far as right now, definitely no … Not because I’m not supporting the show or all the people who are there, but I think if I were to [watch], all of the feelings of not being there would just flood back.”

One of the things that gets lost sometimes is how much the pros plan their lives around being a part of this show, clearing their schedule and making sure that they don’t take jobs that interfere with the ballroom and training their prospective partner. Artem makes a point in saying that a lot of his own frustration is not being told until close to the cast reveal; at that point, he’s left to find other work and plans for the fall on a relatively short notice. If he had known a month or two prior, there may have been more opportunities in the fall for him to pursue.

While some of this waiting and uncertainty may come with the territory of Dancing with the Stars, does it really have to? That’s one thing to wonder in regards to pros entering this fall season.
