‘Sons of Anarchy’ season 5: Filthy Phil finds a place on ‘Raising Hope’

One of the benefits to being on a cable show like “Sons of Anarchy” is simply that you do get a plethora of opportunities that come along with it, and this is surely something that Christopher Douglas Reed, who plays Filthy Phil on the fifth season of the show, is certainly realizing now.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor is going to be coming to the Fox comedy “Raising Hope” for an episode airing later this season, but is going to be playing a character that is hardly much of a stretch from what he already does on his other show. As a matter of fact, he will even be once again a biker, except that his name this time is Liam and he will interact with some of the comedy’s characters. Hopefully, this appearance will be more or less a self-parody of what Reed does on “Sons of Anarchy” on a regular basis, and show that he can tackle multiple genres without a problem.

“Raising Hope” recently saw its third-season order extended by two episodes, and it will now have 24 installments to tape rather than the standard 22 for the network. Meanwhile, “Sons of Anarchy” is over halfway into its own season now, with the final coming up later this fall. Will Phil survive? It’s hard to say, mostly because it’s always hard to say on this show just how high the body count is going to be.
