‘Grey’s Anatomy’ alum Eric Dane joined on TNT pilot by ‘Chuck,’ ‘Firefly’ star

Even though former “Lost” star Titus Welliver may no longer be appearing on the upcoming TNT pilot “The Last Ship,” there is some good news when it comes to the man who will be replacing him on the show.

According to a new report from Deadline, former “Chuck” and “Firefly” star Adam Baldwin has signed on to the series, where he will be playing the role of Mike Slattery, who serves as the second-in-command on the ship to Eric Dane’s lead character of Tom Chandler. Just as this is Dane’s first pilot since his exit from “Grey’s Anatomy” earlier this fall, it marks Baldwin’s first show since “Chuck” ended last season. Considering that the actor does have a devoted following from anyone who likes to watch things explode on the small screen, this is certainly some good news from the Michael Bay-produced project.

As for why Welliver was forced to drop out of the pilot, all we know is that it is a family health emergency that may have to do with his wife. Last we heard, though, was that he will be offered a role down the road again on the show in the event that it does get picked up to series. The show revolves around the crew of a Navy vessel who, following a major catastrophe that wipes out most of the Earth’s population, are some of the only human survivors.

Are you glad to see more Adam Baldwin on your TV set, and what do you think about this pilot based on what you are seeing and hearing right now?
