So who are the real contenders to get the spot? In our mind, there are four performers who seem to be worthy more so than any other.
Sophie Pecora – She’s one of the most original singer/songwriters on the show this year, and it was surprising given her originality that she didn’t move on. Does she have a chance, or will producers feel like there are enough singers elsewhere?
Charlotte Summers – You could make the same case here with Charlotte, especially since this season already has Ansley Burns, Luke Islam, and Emanne Beasha in the next round. Yet, are you going to discount the fact that Charlotte almost advanced even with a questionable song choice?
Lukas & Falco – For the sake of variety, this is probably the safe choice. They were almost put through this week and, beyond that, America loves dogs. This is the sort of act that viewers will get behind, but on the flip side there’s probably a tiny chance they advance to the finals with another chance.
Berywam – They didn’t get anywhere near the votes that we thought that they would on this past episode, especially given how great their harmonies were — they’re both extremely inventive and also technically sound. The issue here is that if Berywam couldn’t even make the Dunkin’ Save, how would they stand a chance moving forward?
If we had to pick, we’d say that Sophie is the best choice to be remembered for long after this season; yet, Lukas & Falco is probably the act that would make us the happiest to see move forward right now. Variety matters on shows like this and it’s hard not to love a good dog act.
