American Horror Story: 1984 premiere spoilers: Check out first details!

American Horror Story: 1984

With the premiere of American Horror Story: 1984 coming to FX next month, we’re thrilled that the network is starting to get more keen on sharing details.

Yesterday, we shared the first trailer for the upcoming season, and it gave us a good sense as to what the story was going to be about — people heading off to Camp Redwood, only to realize soon after that this place was far from ideal. There was a legacy of death already there, creepy things bubbling underneath the surface, and also a dangerous person on the run from a mental institution. The nostalgia is going to play heavy in the new season — check out some of the costumes for proof of that! Yet, the same could be said for some of what you see in terms of this season’s slasher-film style and emphasis on shocking violence and survival at all costs.

Yet, we don’t envision that the premiere episode will give you everything all at once. This episode will be instead about what drives these characters to go to Camp Redwood in the first place… and then also some of the danger that awaits them. Check out the synopsis tat CarterMatt has for you below:

In the summer of 1984, five friends escape Los Angeles to work as counselors at Camp Redwood. As they adjust to their new jobs, they quickly learn that the only thing scarier than campfire tales is the past coming to haunt you.

If you want to extrapolate from this, the big takeaway is that these characters may be bringing the danger to Camp Redwood just as much as the danger possibly existing there all along. We thought, at first, that “the past” may be a reference to the legacy of the camp itself, but these people seemingly weren’t there previously! How can they be haunted by someone/something that they weren’t present for? We’ve got a feeling that these characters are harboring some secrets, and we’re left to wonder if one of them is the killer? The whodunit aspect of a slasher film can be one of its most intriguing parts, and it could be fun seeing this played out into the series as a whole.
