NCIS season 17: New Cote de Pablo – Mark Harmon photo!
The image above was first posted from TVLine for the upcoming September premiere, and it shows Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo) working on some sort of mission together. More than likely, it’d tied to the urgent journey following Ziva’s arrival at his home at the end of season 16. Gibbs seems to still be wearing the same outfit that he was while working on his boat in the final scene, but looks a little worse for wear with blood marks on his forehead. Something bad happens between the end of the finale and the time of this scene, and you have to think that there’s more danger to come even after this scene.

What we know about the threat that is after Gibbs and Ziva is that it’s tied in some way to Ziva’s past — namely, the reason why she has been gone from her family and her world for so long. (We’re, of course, assuming, that she has been gone from Tony since Ziva’s return was never mentioned.) Also, we’ve learned today that the mission involving Ziva isn’t just limited to a single episode; there could be as many as four in total that feature Cote as the character, with them being spread out throughout some of the season. NCIS fans should be very familiar with this format already — the series doesn’t do too many ongoing episodes that continue from one episode to the next, thanks mostly to the case-of-the-week format that it often adopts and its effectiveness via syndication.
No matter how much Ziva we see or what the story is, rest assured that it’s going to be thrilling. We’ve been away from Zivatown for so long that it’s exciting to be able to pay a visit now in a big way!
