Agents of SHIELD’s Ming-Na Wen lands another Disney role
Ultimately, it seems to be this very thing that Ming-Na Wen is choosing. Hence, her deciding to come on board The Mandalorian. She is staying within the Disney franchise in order to be a part of the upcoming Disney+ streaming series, one set within the Star Wars universe and features Game of Thrones alun Pedro Pascal in the title role.
Wen was honored earlier today at the D23 Expo for her work voicing Mulan, and at the event, the casting news was also announced. Here’s what she had to say on the subject in a new statement via Syfy Wire:
“I was so excited when [Disney chairman Bob Iger] announced it, because I’ve been waiting to talk about it … You don’t understand — that is a Star Wars geek girl’s dream come true … I certainly don’t play a farmer!”

This is a fantastic gig for Ming-Na fresh off of playing another iconic role in Agent Melinda May, and we have a feeling that this frontier will prove exciting — even if it is mysterious to a certain degree. After all, no one quite knows at the moment precisely how popular Disney+ as a service is going to be. It still isn’t even out, and there is rampant speculation already that there are too many streaming services as-is. Perhaps the biggest thing that it has going for it is the huge library of Disney classics that will be available from the jump, and that’s without even mentioning the various Star Wars and Marvel series that it has on tap. The Mandalorian is exciting, but let’s not pretend as though it’s the only interesting thing that Disney+ is bringing to the table either.
