Ratings: ‘666 Park Avenue,’ ‘Revenge’ rise against football, overruns

Sunday night’s television lineup was really in a word confusing, so with that in mind there is really only one network that we can report on accurately for the time being: ABC. Both NBC and Fox were broadcasting sporting events in football and baseball, and CBS saw its lineup pushed extremely late thanks to football running into overtime.

Thanks to ABC’s current numbers, it is actually looking like one of the happiest Mondays on record. First of all, “Once Upon a Time” shifted up to a 3.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and this increase of 10% from last week’s episode helped to set the tone for the night. Really, you have to blame the much-anticipated arrival of Captain Hook for this, and it was something people wanted to see live rather than record on their DVR.

As for “Revenge,” the news was also sweet as it rose two-tenths to a 2.8 rating. We’ve seen a number of people mock the “Revenge” ratings for being too low lately, but this is just as strong as what “Desperate Housewives” was pulling last season … and they are do without having to shell out a huge amount of money to their cast.

Finally, the best news of all comes for a show very much on the bubble in “666 Park Avenue.” The already has some great DVR numbers, and scoring a 1.8 here (an increase of 20%) shows that it is not just destined to fall every week. Halloween coming up is sure to be another boost to the creepy show on Sunday, and the real challenge for it will be trying to maintain momentum in the weeks that follow.

Are you getting tired of the football overruns, and what did you watch Sunday?
