The Resident season 3 promo: First Morris Chestnut tease

While you do still have to wait until this fall to see The Resident season 3 on the air, we are very much pleased about one thing: Another promo for what’s coming up!

We’re not going to lie — there is a big chunk of this promo that feels a good bit like one that would’ve been released for the pilot of the series. After all, most people out there likely know and/or get the overall message of the show at this point — it’s about witnessing medical heroes do their best in order to make the world a better place, no matter the obstacles that they find themselves coming across. It’s also about working to try and change the broken system that causes patients to suffer sometimes and keeps doctors from doing some of the valuable work that they should be able to do.

One of the main events from this new promo is merely getting a small chance to see the new character played by Rosewood and The Enemy Within alum Morris Chestnut His role is that of Dr. Barrett Cain, described as “an intimidating neurosurgeon hired by Red Rock Medical to turn around Chastain’s finances. Cain believes himself to be a superman physician, capable of curing crippling diseases. He’s charming when he wants to be but utterly ruthless in his quest for money and power. His ability to exact swift revenge on any who oppose him will put the good doctors at Chastain in jeopardy.”

So, basically, it’s possible that Cain could be a wolf in sheep’s clothing. His medical expertise could lead in part to him being able to mask some of his true intentions. He could then cause some chaos down the road and some of these characters better be prepared for what that could mean.

While the new promo doesn’t address it, we’re still waiting to see what happens to Nic’s sister and father — it looks as though one of them is going to die, based on the events of the finale.
