Yellowstone season 2 episode 10 (finale) preview: ‘Sins of the Father’
Let’s start here with John Dutton himself. He made some key, cutthroat decisions that have intensified his war with Malcolm Beck — Beck may have been terrible regardless, but the situation is now to the point where the metaphorical fire is engulfing all the ranch. Tate is gone, and whatever happens next is going to be completely in the service of finding a way to make sure that he is okay and that nothing else happens. This is the sort of crisis that could be a unifier — something that we don’t have within the world of Yellowstone all that often.
As we noted in our piece about tonight’s episode, we have a hard time imagining that the character is dead — he’s likely being used as a negotiation plot, given that he is one of the few people within this world who we know Dutton loves unconditionally. He’s going to do everything within his power to make sure that he gets him back and also that he is okay.
If the Tate storyline does get resolved, the Yellowstone team may then be able to then move things over to some other topics. Take, for example, getting a chance to see whether or not Kayce and Monica stay at this ranch forever. Beth tried to encourage Monica to use what makes her different from the Duttons to influence him. Meanwhile, we also have Jimmy’s storyline to wrap up and then also if there’s something be something more between Beth and Rip. Oh, and can we forget about the fact that Jamie murdered the reporter in cold blood, desperate to save himself? We kind of feel like that is the sort of thing that will be important before the end of the season.
