Dancing with the Stars cast: Ally Brooke, Kel Mitchell; Sean Spicer drama

Dancing with the Stars

This morning, the latest Dancing with the Stars cast was revealed for season 28 and, already, there is a lot of blowback. We’ll get to some of that in a moment, but let’s talk first about the other people taking part.

To go along with this list, check out our video below with more thoughts on the casting! For some other news, remember to subscribe to CarterMatt on YouTube!

Lauren Alaina – A country singer, best known still to some from her time on American Idol, where she finished second place behind Scotty McCreery.

Christie Brinkley – A model, actress, and performer who DWTS producers have been angling to get on the show for years.

Ally Brooke – A former member of Fifth Harmony. She’s a pop star with a lot of performing on stage, so this should be a reasonably-easy transition.

Hannah Brown – Former star of The BacheloretteMaybe her casting is ABC’s apology for subjecting her to a season of Jed and Luke P.

Karamo Brown – Best known for his role on Netflix’s Queer Eye. He’s an entertaining, high-energy guy! Should be fun to watch.

Kate Flannery – Actress, but you probably best know her as Meredith from The Office. Probably no flashing on the ballroom.

Ray Lewis – Former NFL star, famous for some of his pre-game dance/hype rituals. He’s going to have all of Baltimore voting for him, if nothing else.

Kel Mitchell – Former child star, who defined generations on All That and Kenan & Kel. He still appears regularly on Nickelodeon.

Lamar Odom – He’s probably just as famous for being with Khloe Kardashian as he is being a former NBA player.

Sean Spicer – Here’s where things get controversial, as there are already a number of people threatening to boycott the show over the former White House Press Secretary’s inclusion. In a post on Twitter, host Tom Bergeron even made it clear that he was against the casting.

James Van Der Beek – Former Dawson’s Creek star. The irony of this casting is that James actually spoofed being on Dancing with the Stars during his run on Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23.

Mary Wilson – Singer, best known for The Supremes. She probably has no chance of winning, but she’ll be told time and time again how much of a legend she is.
