Animal Kingdom season 5 premiere date hopes, expectations
Let’s start things off here by getting the following out of the way, in the event you did not know already. There is going to be a season 5 of the series. Animal Kingdom was renewed many weeks ago, prior to the departure of Ellen Barkin and anything that transpired with Smurf. Season 5 is going to feature a very different sort of story for this show, one where maybe the brothers are more unified — or, at the very least, more cognizant that they need each other in order to keep going. The dynamic at the center of the series is going to be different, but different doesn’t need to mean bad.

What we’d like to see in season 5 is seeing somewhat of a reset for the series. With Smurf gone, how do the other members of the Cody family recover? Is Angela now sticking around permanently? What’s going on with Billy after his own return in the finale? All of these are worth thinking about, and with Adrian’s own decision in the finale we wonder if he will ever be back at all? There’s also the subject of Craig’s father Jake, who showed up briefly in the finale … and it remains to be seen if we’ll see much more of him in the months to come.
Now, let’s get to the next order of business here — trying to figure out when Animal Kingdom season 5 will premiere. This is a show that thrives on TNT within its summer timeslot and when the dust settles, we don’t foresee that changing. We imagine that the fifth season will premiere in late May 2020 and run through August once more. It’s possible that the show continues onward to a season 6, but it may be too early to tell at the moment. It depends on the ratings, the enthusiasm of the cast and crew, and whether the writers still have more great stories to tell.
