Mayans MC exclusive clip: Michael Irby talks about Bishop’s motorcycle
Do you want to know what makes some of the motorcycles on this show so special? It goes beyond just the characters riding him, as the cast and crew work hard to make sure that there’s a sense of individuality to many bikes that end up on the road.
In the exclusive clip below (from the season 1 DVD collection, releasing today!), you can see Michael Irby speak out in particular about the design of Obispo “Bishop” Losa’s Harley-Davidson, and some of the various features that make it special. It’s got specific exhaust pipes, a unique sound, and a number of artistic flourishes that help it stand out from the pack. Art director Candice Muriedas takes you through some of the process, and you also hear a little from Nico Cope of the transportation department at the very end. Judging from his title as a mechanic, he knows a thing or two about being around a Harley.
In giving Bishop a special bike, it helps to exemplify further his status within the club and the sense of leadership that he has. It also allows him to have something that others within the MC will want and aspire to. It’s these little additions that make this world more immersive and give you a sense of hierarchy — also, it’s a reminder that no matter what walk of life you’re in, every single person has their own sense of style that they want to show off wherever they can.
Moving into season 2, Bishop will obviously come across a number of new challenges — and the MC itself is going to be working together in order to solve plenty of problems (while creating new ones). Go ahead and expect to see a lot more of this bike and many others in the weeks to come — and that’s without even mentioning any possible Sons of Anarchy cast members and what they bring to the table. Expect some more crossovers — that’s been teased up for a while.
