Grey’s Anatomy season 16 spoilers: Kim Raver on Teddy’s mindset

Grey’s Anatomy season 16 is going to have a lot of different things that it’s going to be taking on right away. Take, for example, Teddy trying to figure out just what she wants some of her romantic future to be.

At the end of this past season, one of the things that we saw from Teddy is her getting to become a mother with Owen at her side. When you think about it, this is the sort of thing that brings to people closer. Add to this the lengthy history that Owen and Teddy have together, and you can make a pretty clear argument that he is the frontrunner for her heart in the long-term.

Yet, this is where you shift the focus ever so slightly and remember that Tom Koracick is still a part of the picture and doesn’t seem to be going anywhere in the near future. He’s proven himself to be an excellent boyfriend and is likely intent on trying to be a great father after dealing with so much personal tragedy. He’s going to want to be there for her on the other side of the birth.

As Kim Raver explained to Entertainment Tonight, nothing is altogether official just yet … even if it seems on the surface that Owen is the frontrunner for Teddy’s heart:

“I don’t know what they are! … I mean, literally, as she was giving birth, he’s professing his love and she’s trying to digest that. But it’s like, what’s with the timing?! As a viewer, I’m watching it, like, there’s Koracick (Greg Germann) in the baby room, eating his sandwich! I was like, ‘Oh my god, poor Koracick.’

“I love that, and I hope the audience loves that too because that’s the sort of thing where you’re like, ‘What is happening?’ So I think that is a great springboard for what we’re entering into … Look, part of me feels like Teddy and Owen have worked on themselves for so many years and have been headed towards this, and I want such incredible things for them because I’m a hopeless romantic.”
