Supergirl season 5 spoilers: Kate Micucci joining for premiere

Supergirl

When Supergirl season 5 arrives on The CW a little later this year, you’re going to have a chance to see a pretty notable name in the premiere!

According to a report from TVLine, Kate Micucci (Another Period, The Big Bang Theory) will be around in that first episode in what is being described as a small but fun role. Here’s what show executive producer Jessica Queller had to say on that subject:

“She’s amazing and so sparkly and hysterical … [She] has a small cameo as a character working in a museum.”

Kate’s appearance serves at least as an opportunity for Supergirl as a series to have a little bit more in the way of lighthearted humor, and that is something that we will always get behind. Micucci is also one of those actors who we think could easily lead a sitcom or be a part of some sort of super-unique series; any chance to get to see her on TV is a good thing.

Supergirl season 5 is premiering this October on The CW, and will be a part of a lineup that also includes Batwoman. One of the central themes for the upcoming episodes this time around is the role that technology has on individuals, and the world that they encounter on a daily basis.

Other Supergirl season 5 casting news

One announcement that we have not reported on here is that Staz Nair of Game of Thrones fame is going to be playing William Dey, a new “hardened reporter” and someone who has ties to the underground of National City. For everyone out there who loves seeing a lot of Reporter Kara Danvers, consider that to be great news. We do think that this show is at its best when you have a quality balance of the character’s two different sides — you don’t want to lose one part of her in favor of the other, and you want the show to be a nice balance of action and character-based drama.
