MasterChef season 10: Jamie Hough eliminated; episode 20 preview

Tonight on MasterChef, the remaining nine contestants were tasked with quite the difficult challenge — produce great sausage. The home cooks had an opportunity to do almost whatever they wanted with it, and there was something to be excited about when it comes to that. Some used pork, others used more gamey meat, and others struggled with presentation.

The great thing about where we are in the competition right now is that there were a lot of people who knocked things out of the park. Yet, it was clear close to the end of the episode who could be in danger — Jamie Hough. He tried hard to deliver something that was close to his heart, but he struggled to get the flavor and the consistency of the sausage right. You could try to make a case that Subha could’ve been eliminated after struggling with a couple of different elements, or that Bri’s food was a little bit too bland. Yet, at the same time it felt like Jamie’s had more issues going on. He knew that he was going on and because of that, he stepped forward when Gordon Ramsay told him to.

This wasn’t the most unpredictable elimination in the world — it was over from the moment that he presented it to the judges. Yet, he still has a great run in food moving forward. He showed that he was great in some venues, including baking, that he didn’t know he had the skill set for. All in all, you have to consider that a success.

Jamie predicted that Subha would be the next MasterChef — wouldn’t that be fun? He’d be one of the more likable winners we’ve seen.

TV host Daphne Oz reveals the contents of the week’s mystery box challenge to the top eight, leaving the contestants 60 minutes to create an elevated one-pan dish using the cast iron pan.
