This Is Us season 4 spoilers: Jack, Rebecca’s new flashback story
As you would imagine, doing that is not the easiest thing to do in the world. With Milo Ventimiglia’s character, we’re talking about someone who is dead in the present, and someone who has had a number of big stories within the past already addressed. Think about some of the stuff we’ve seen, in between him in Vietnam, how he met Rebecca, and of course everything leading up to the character’s death. There are still important storylines that the show can address, but they have to find a way to add some spice to them when we know about everything that surrounds them.

Take, for example, Jack meeting Rebecca’s parents. That is going to be one of the big stories early on this season, and you’re going to see Jack struggle to relate to other people while also dealing with a lot of the trauma associated from being a veteran of Vietnam. There’s a lot of emotional stuff here to unpack, as series star Mandy Moore confirms to Entertainment Weekly in a new interview:
“There are going to be some family dynamics that enter the equation from my side, having to contend with my parents and their thoughts on him … I’m curious to see how Jack boxes it all up and stuffs it away, and I think it’s going to be a process.”
Jack’s a guy who has so many likable qualities and we think that some of those will be pointed out … or at least they will over time. It’s obviously not going to happen right away, though, and that’s something that we should go ahead and be aware of as he battles his demons.
This Is Us season 4 will air Tuesdays this fall on NBC.
