grown-ish season 3 premiere date coming in early 2020
In the video HERE, Freeform confirms that you will get to see new episodes of the Yara Shahidi series starting in “winter 2020.” There is a part of us that wishes that there was a greater sense of clarity here, mostly given that “winter” can mean a lot of different things. Some will think that it means December 2020, but in this case, they mean that it will return in January/February most likely. (Why can’t they say “early 2020”? It’s probably because early is also a relative term in a lot of ways.)
As for what’s coming up on grown-ish season 3, the promo also does a good job of being pretty succinct on that subject — junior year. This is the next phase of the evolution for many of these characters as they start to move towards what they want out of the remainder of their lives. We’ll see them all continue to evolve — junior year is when you’re typically done feeling yourself out in terms of some of what you want from your career. This is where more understanding and solidifying plans for after school come into play. You don’t have to be 100% on it (that’s what senior year is for!), but you typically are on that path.
We feel like Freeform would be kind of eyeroll-silly if they were to cancel grown-ish so close to the end of Zoey’s time in school. It feels like the sort of series that will make it to a season 4 and once we get there, we’ll have a better sense of where the story will go. If the series does want to extend itself beyond four years of undergraduate school, it’s going to have to do that by dramatically altering what the series is. That means cast shake-ups or finding a creative reason to keep everyone together.
For now, just known that grown-ish season 3 will be coming at you at some point in the reasonably-near future.
