Colton Haynes confirms Arrow exit, was not asked back as regular
In a new post on Twitter, Haynes confirmed his exit but also said to go along with it that it wasn’t his choice to leave:
Getting a lot of angry messages so just to clarify…I didn’t exit the last season of Arrow. I was not asked to come back for the final season as a series regular. But y’all know Roy…he’s never gone for too long.

The latter part of this statement is the good news, as it does indicate that Roy, one way or another, is going to find his way back into the mix before the series ends. We think that the series moving away from the character has more to do with the limited about of space that they have more so than anything else. There are only ten episodes in the final season and because of that, the writers are going to have to move quickly to tell whatever stories that they still want to get out there. Roy would be a perfect person to include in Crisis On Infinite Earths somehow, though we’d also like to see some more time given to what happened with him and Thea … if there was an opportunity to get Willa Holland back. That’s still not clear but we’re hoping that it’s something that could happen.
The final season of Arrow will premiere on The CW this October. It’s possible that the writers will clue us into Roy’s return a little bit in advance, or they could surprise us totally out of the blue. The latter is certainly more fun, but harder to pull off.
