Shameless season 10 spoilers: SNL’s Rachel Dratch signs on
According to a new report from Deadline, former Saturday Night Live cast member Rachel Dratch is going to be recurring through the upcoming season as Paula, a “corrupt parole officer” for Cameron Monaghan’s character of Ian. Throughout the season, she’ll try to use him and other parolees in order to run an “elaborate insurance scam.”
While none of this sounds like great news for Ian, there is a little bit of a silver lining sprinkled in here — the idea of Ian getting out of prison at some point. Hopefully, we’ll have a chance to see Mickey eventually join him given that Noel Fisher will be returning in a major capacity for season 10. It’s almost as though the Shameless writers recognized that there would be some people would be bummed about losing Fiona, so they had to find a way to compensate for that.

As for some other casting news, Family Reunion actor Anthony Alabi is also going to be coming on board as Mavar. His character description claims that he is an “upstanding and clean-cut [guy] who steps in to be a much needed role model for Liam (Christian Isaiah) as Liam explores his racial identity outside of the Gallaghers. A former college athlete, Mavar now sells used cars, mentors local youth and sings in the church choir.”
Does this mean that we’re going to see him making some positive changes? It feels possible, and probably welcome given that this poor kid has been forced to spend a lot of his childhood around Frank. As we’ve seen with most of the Gallaghers already, that leaves a mark and isn’t the easiest thing in the world to recover from.
Shameless season 10 will premiere on Showtime later this fall, and will run new episodes into 2020.
