Outlander notes: Sam Heughan appearances; a returning face to set

OutlanderWelcome to another edition of Outlander notes! There are a couple of different headlines to point out within this update, but let’s start with Sam Heughan convention news!

In a new post on Instagram (which CarterMatt has for you to see below), Sam seemed to confirm that he is one of the people heading to New York Comic-Con in early October. We first talked about the show’s appearance there yesterday, and while it may have seemed like a given that he would be there, you never want to say anything with 100% confidence given that season 5 could still be filming at that point. It is still possible that something could happen at the last second, but given that this is a convention appearance being done officially in conjunction with Starz, they will probably make every effort to ensure that Sam and some of the other leads are present.

What’s also worth noting is that Heughan is also going to be present on December 1 at The Land Con 3 in Paris. It’s possible that filming for season 5 will be done by early December or at least around then which would give him an opportunity to be present. Given that this is not a convention with an official Starz presence, remember here that things are even more subject to change. Actors who sign on to these conventions make every effort to be there, but sometimes things happen that are beyond their control.

For everyone who is in Paris later this year, we hope you have fun!

Who else is back on set?

It looks as though Outlander is going to be utilizing some top-notch language skills for season 5! In a post on Twitter, Gaelic consultant Àdhamh Ó Broin confirmed that he was back around the show “with faces old and new.” Given the amount of Scottish settlers in North Carolina, he may be around to help with that storyline; or, maybe there are some flashbacks or other sequences taking place in Scotland itself.

Regardless of the reasoning, it’s always exciting to see more of this great language emphasized within the Outlander world.
