Love Island USA season 2 premiere date hopes on CBS
Let’s kick things off here with the news, if you didn’t know, that there is going to be a Love Island USA season 2. This was confirmed last week at the TCA Summer Press Tour in Los Angeles, and it comes on the strength of the show’s performance with young, female viewers. The first season of Love Island hasn’t been a huge hit over on CBS; yet, at the same time it’s brought CBS viewers that they didn’t have beforehand. That matters a lot to the network, and they clearly think that this is going to lead to there being some more viewers coming their way in the new year.

One of the things that CBS is looking at here as a potential model for the future of Love Island is the British version, which over time has become more and more of a hit as viewers find it. Its success comes mostly via it being on the air for a relatively short period of time. Even though it airs a lot when it’s around, it’s still only a handful of weeks. That makes it so that it feels special.
Because of its status as a summer series and something meant to be digested all at once, there is ZERO reason for CBS to premiere season 2 before next summer. It will probably be back at around the same time next year, and we would assume that it would air still for five nights a week. If CBS is to scale back on the number of appearances it has, what that will indicate to some is that they’re not that happy with the show and they should consider moving away from it. We’re not sure that this is something they want to change things up from a vantage point of optics.
Casting for Love Island USA season 2 is already underway … for those curious about that.
