Poldark season 5 episode 5 promo: Counterfeit money; Drake’s downfall

Coming up on Poldark season 5 episode 5, is counterfeiting about to become commonplace? If nothing else, we know that it’s about to become a big storyline.

In the promo that CarterMatt has for you below, you can see a trade-off to where gold currency is no longer going to be the standard. There is a dramatic shift that is coming where paper money is the new normal … and some characters (namely, Tess) want to take advantage of this opportunity. We know that no good can come from this, though at the same time you could argue that “no good can come from this” really should be the official motto for Tess as a character. She hasn’t exactly achieved much that would make fans of Ross and Demelza happy for the better part of this season.

Also in this upcoming episode, you’re going to continue to see more questions come out in regards to what’s happening with Ross Poldark and Ned Despard — namely, if Ned’s revolutionary actions are going to have an adverse effect on Ross. Ralph is already looking to use Ned as a conspiratorial tool; he wants to use his actions to paint Ross as a traitor to the crown and he’s also got George in a position where he will also want to actively fight against him. Ralph is one of Ross’ most notable adversaries so far this series, largely because he’s mostly about business. He wants to line his own pockets and thwart anyone he believes to be an opponent. He’s not acting in an emotional matter. He sees a threat and acts on it … though there is a major distraction coming for him in the form of his daughter Cecily. We know that she has some feelings for Geoffrey Charles, but Ralph’s not so keen on any match that does not involve George Warleggan.

Yes, somehow Poldark is managing to make a love triangle work between Geoffrey Charles, the woman he cares about, and Geoffrey’s own stepfather.

Meanwhile, Drake is going to take drastic action to reunite Morwenna with her son … and it could have consequences that doom him for much of the remainder of his life.
