Bachelor in Paradise season 6 premiere: Is Clay Harbor there too soon?

Bachelor in Paradise season 6

Coming up on Monday night’s Bachelor in Paradise season 6 premiere, you’ll see many familiar favorites turn up in Mexico! Yet, some arrivals may turn out better than others, and there is already a suggestion in the sneak peek below that Clay Harbor may be there at the wrong time given his dating history.

In the sneak peek below, you can see Clay make his grand arrival and almost immediately after that, Jane takes a shine to him. Who’s Jane? Well, the simple answer is that production wants you to ask that question. Every season there tends to be one contestant who was eliminated on the first night and nobody has any recollection of them among the viewing audience. That’s Jane, though it is slightly amusing that Clay introduces himself as Tarzan.

Here’s where some of the controversy then begins — Clay entered Paradise not too long after the end of a long-term romance with another Bachelor Nation alum in Angela Amezcua, and there are questions as a result of that as to whether or not he should even be there. All things considered, is it too early for someone with his relationship history to be showing up? That’s a question that is pondered over, and we wondered if it’s something that will last as a narrative going into the season.

We do think that it’s fair to bring this up, but we also don’t think that we can correlate it to anything that we saw on this past season of The Bachelorette with Hannah Brown. Clay didn’t enter Paradise with a relationship, and nor do we have any evidence at all that he ended his previous one because he wanted to go on this show. You can still wonder if he’s in a serious position to find a romantic partner, but maybe he’s viewing this show as an opportunity to decompress, have fun, and see what happens. We’ll see a little bit more about the NFL alum once we get around to the premiere airing.
