Succession season 2 premiere spoilers: Kendall’s quest to regroup

Succession season 1

Come Sunday, August 11, the Succession season 2 premiere is going to be coming onto HBO, and we gotta imagine it’ll be throwing everything at you that you could possibly want. Think in terms of drama, intensity, and family members screaming at each other in a way that only feels like Thanksgiving dinner.

The premiere episode is entitled “The Summer Palace” and we don’t think that the show is going to waste a whole lot of time getting back into the thick of the show — watching Kendall, Shiv, and many other characters wrestle with the family media empire at the heart of the show. Logan still wants to figure out what the company’s future will hold, but we don’t think it is 100% guaranteed that we are going to see a situation unfold here where one of Logan’s kids ends up taking over. There is a lot of time left in this show and with that in mind, there are a LOT of directions that the story could still go. We just hope that it does move in one that is surprising, given that this could end up being a big part of the fun with a series like this.

Below, CarterMatt has the official Succession season 2 premiere synopsis (via SpoilerTV) with some more news as to what’s coming:

Still addled from the events in England, Kendall (Jeremy Strong) tries to make amends with his dad for his takeover attempt betrayal. Logan (Brian Cox) receives some unvarnished advice from his financial banker about the next best move for Waystar Royco. As Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) maneuvers for a new position in the company, Shiv (Sarah Snook) tries to determine whether Logan is playing mind games regarding his successor.

By the time that we get through the end of the premiere, we’re going to be in a situation where Kendall knows where he stands — that has to mean something, right? Beyond that, we’re also going to have a chance in order to see Shiv assess the field and for some new threats to enter the field. Succession season 2 isn’t out to just mirror some of the stuff we saw the first go-around. It’s looking to raise the game and bring these business/personal relationships to new heights.
