Power season 6 to be split into two separate parts on Starz

While at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour event today, the network confirmed that the second half of the season is going to be held until January, which means that the first half of the season will likely run through early October before taking a break.
Why make this move? A part of it has to do with the idea of keeping subscribers around, but also capitalizing on periods of the year where viewers are going to be readily available. More often than not, viewers are around in early January and that’s a great time in which to conclude the show.
What we know is that Power is going to wrap up before the start of spring, and we wonder if it will ever split time on the schedule with Outlander season 5. We already reported that the show is going to air in early 2020, and it’s coming after a rather lengthy hiatus.
Throughout most of Power season 6, you are going to see arguably the final chapter in the tale of James St. Patrick a.k.a. Ghost. How will he react to the shooting of Angela? How will he strike out revenge on Tommy, if he even did? This is a season where all of the conflicts and character battles are going to come to a close. It’s going to be intense, dramatic, and a true culmination of this arc.
Power is far from the first series to follow a split-season model — many shows, including Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and Siren have all followed this to a relative degree of success. It’s hard to get big live ratings on Starz these days, but Power is a show more than capable of getting that.
