Is The Boys renewed for season 2? Premiere date speculation
Let’s start by getting a great update out of the way first: The intense, adult-oriented superhero series is coming back for another round! The streaming service announced the renewal earlier this month, following a pattern of some other high-profile Amazon series. They’re going almost in a different direction than Netflix, which is taking more of a cautious approach announcing renewals for some of their series.
The series already stars Jack Quaid, Elisabeth Shue, Karl Urban, Laz Alonso, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Chace Crawford and Nathan Mitchell. For season 2, Aya Cash will also be coming on board! This is a show with a great deal of behind-the-scenes talent working to make it as strong as humanly possible, as Supernatural creator Eric Kripke has worked to steer this adaptation from the early days. It’s got potential to get even bigger and crazier from here, so that’s a cause for optimism for the future!
As for when we could see The Boys season 2 premiere, the earliest answer that we can offer to that is at some point in the summer/fall of 2020. These shows take a while to make, but that is one of the reasons for the early renewal. It gives the producers and writers more time to get the story together so that the show can come back on the air within a reasonably short period of time. For a show like The Boys, we like to think that this is incredibly important in the hopes of it building an audience. If it can do that, it will be able to last for many years potentially. We don’t know if it can come close to the fifteen seasons that Supernatural is around, but we’ll be glad to have it however long it exists for.
Expect more news on The Boys season 2 when you get around to the new year. We imagine more announcements on casting and what lies ahead will long precede the premiere hitting Amazon.
