Is The Code renewed for season 2, canceled by CBS?
We should note that as of right now, there is no 100% official word on the future of The Code. Nonetheless, it’s not hard to read into the recent June hiatus as anything but a troublesome sign. Pending some shocking announcement, we are looking at what will be the final episode of the series tonight.
Compared to some other summer series, the ratings for The Code are admittedly not terrible. With a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and also more than 4.7 million live viewers on average. It actually has performed better than Blood & Treasure, a series that has already been renewed for another season.
So what’s the difference between the two? For Blood & Treasure, we have a show that stands out a little bit more within the network’s overall roster. With The Code, there are a number of similar shows out there already and maybe that is a part of what makes saving it a little more difficult. Maybe it costs a little bit more because of the fact that it has a cast of familiar faces.
Here’s one crazy thought — if CBS does ever revive JAG (there are some rumors that are out there), why not bring a few of the cast members from this show over there? Why not give that a try to see what happens? It’s something to think about, but we think that, just like the show’s future, is doubtful. We think the more likely scenario is that the series just finishes in a few months and we don’t hear too much from it moving forward. Our hope is that all of the talented folks who work on this show do have a chance to take on some other gigs moving forward, wherever they land.
No matter what CBS chooses to do with the future of The Code, the need to act quickly — these actors all deserve an opportunity to get some other gigs. As a matter of fact, we would argue that there’s one that
