Lucifer season 5: Why isn’t there a San Diego Comic-Con appearance?

The simplest reason why the show wasn’t considered for a panel this year is because it’s not coming out anytime soon. It’s really as simple as that. It costs money from networks, streaming providers, and studios to have panel presentations at the convention and with Lucifer not coming out until the spring, it means that there is less of a reason to bring the cast and crew out there. The irony here of course is that it would make a little bit more sense for there to be a Lucifer panel than most of the other shows that are there, given that it is based on a comic-book series and all…
Anyway, we’re sure that there will be convention appearances featuring Tom Ellis and the rest of the cast over the next several months, or at least once the final season wraps up filming. That’s one of the great things about them — they’re supportive and caring towards the fans and they understand how much they went through in order to ensure that they ended up being saved in the first place.
Do we still wish that they were at SDCC this year? Absolutely, given that it would have been a great opportunity to toast the series one more time before it goes off the air — similar to the treatment that Arrow received today. Because it is premiering this fall, The CW and Warner Bros. TV rolled out the red carpet for it and allowed it plenty of opportunities to shine. (Lucifer isn’t the only WBTV show not in attendance this year — while some Legends of Tomorrow stars were present for interviews this year, they did not have a formal panel.)
