The Rookie season 2 spoilers: Lost alum Harold Perrineau joins

For those wanting to know some of the latest The Rookie season 2 casting scoop, we come bearing some news from Comic-Con and beyond!

While at the show’s panel last night, it was revealed that Lost alum Harold Perrineau (who is currently a part of Claws on TNT) is going to have a major arc on the upcoming batch of episodes. What’s his role? Think along the lines of a detective, one who takes Nathan Fillion’s John Nolan under his wing. There should be a fun back-and-forth that goes along with this, especially since Harold as an actor can play both comedy and drama really well given the circumstance.

For those worried that this job could impact Perrineau’s future on Claws as Desna’s brother Dean, don’t be — this arc will film this summer/fall, and he will be able to go back to Claws season 4, depending of course on what happens the remainder of this season.

Meanwhile, TVLine reports today that former Heroes star Ali Larter is going to recur during the second season as an ER doctor, someone who has a history tied to Nolan’s past. Given that so much of The Rookie has revolved around Nathan’s character starting over in a new place, we’re not sure how much he is going to love having a clear reminder of who he used to be around. As for how much she is around, that remains to be seen. (If she’s a potential love interest, maybe he ends up being quite thrilled she’s around in the end.)

The Rookie season 2 is going to premiere on ABC this fall, where it will settle into a new timeslot Sunday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. It’s a dangerous spot to be, given that there are a lot of other shows that have aired here that have not fared altogether well. Here’s to hoping that this show with its particular audience ends up bucking that trend.
