Is Rose Leslie leaving The Good Fight after three seasons? It’s a question that’s been out there for a while. Now, it’s official.
Speaking to TVLine while at San Diego Comic-Con (where they are promoting their new series Evil), executive producers Robert and Michelle King confirmed that the former Game of Thrones star is departing the series as a series regular. This news is largely confirmation of something that a lot of people suspected for some time. Leslie’s role on the show has diminished over time as The Good Fight shifted its tone away from being a legal drama into something a little more political. Leslie’s Maya was sent away at the end of season, so seeing this news come about as a result of it makes sense.
Of course, whether or not every viewer loves The Good Fight in its original or current form is up to debate. We just hope that Rose gets another series opportunity soon in the future. Despite her joking about her and Kit Harington’s future career gigs on his Saturday Night Live hosting gig earlier this year, we tend to believe that there are going to be a lot of people interested in bringing her on board. Over this summer, there could be all sorts of shows interested in their services.
Personally, we’d like to have a chance in order to see Leslie on some sort of comedy — a chance for her to show off a fantastic sense of humor. Even just seeing her for a few minutes on SNL was delightful and entertaining. If not for this fall, maybe she can come out for pilot season and get a starting gig on another series.
Season 4 of The Good Fight is going to be premiering on CBS All Access at some point in the new year. Hopefully, there will be some other news on the series coming up before long.
If you haven’t seen The Good Fight at all, you should know that CBS proper is airing the first season this summer. Some of those viewers could move over to All Access in the months to come.
