The Expanse season 4 premiere date coming in December

What is The Expanse season 4 premiere date going to be over on Amazon? It’s understandable to have the question at the moment, and while it doesn’t seem like Amazon is eager to give you a super-specific answer, we at least have a premiere month.

Speaking in a new interview with a local Fox affiliate out of San Diego for Comic-Con, Amazon Prime Video’s Head of Marketing Mike Benson made it clear that the science-fiction series will be launching in December. That’s a long wait from when season 3 premiered back on Syfy, but we get it. The Expanse is one of those shows that takes a long time to put together due to the special effects and the high quality of the storytelling — plus, we’re fine waiting for however long it takes since we know that we are going to have a great season on the other side of it.

The Expanse had an unusual road to getting back on the air. Think about it this way — it started off on Syfy for three years, where it worked to flourish despite the network itself not having a supreme level of investment in the end product. (It’s mostly the result of how much ownership they themselves had in the show.) Despite posting great comparable ratings from season 2 to season 3, it wasn’t enough for the network to keep it. Luckily, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos was a fan of the source material and that helped to get the show a pickup for a season 4 — alongside an incredibly passionate fan base. This is not just some Jeff Bezos pet project. It’s a show that has people who will fight for it — in other words, the sort of audience that anyone would covet to have coming to their streaming service and Amazon has some of the best shows out there at the moment with series like Absentia, Jack Ryan, Bosch and Goliath.

There’s a chance that over the next few weeks, more will revealed about The Expanse season 4 — here’s to hoping that a premiere date is going to be among the big reveals. Keep your eyes peeled for a little bit of something more. We think that as we get closer, Amazon’s going to give this show something that it never quite had before in an exceptional rollout … and hopefully, the sort of thing that gets the ball rolling for a season 5. It’s never too early to dream!
