Euphoria episode 6 preview: What happens on Halloween?

Want to know what’s next on Euphoria episode 6? It’s the next new episode and, ironically, it’s called “The Next Episode.” The setting for most of this one is Halloween night, which is of course a time where crazy stuff often happens.

Yet, when you’re young, what Halloween means to you is a number of different things. Until you’re about a teenager, this is a night that revolves around candy, around having fun, carving pumpkins, and eating caramel apples. Then, it turns a little bit sinister. Think in terms of mischief, parties, drama, and chaos. It’s one of those nights where an awesome plan for everyone to have a great time quickly becomes a night that everyone collectively regrets. For Rue, she’s going to have think about a number of important relationships in her life. For a number of these characters, they will find themselves in similar spots. They recognize that they’re not going to be young enough to celebrate Halloween at all within a few years; times are changing and we imagine that this is the sort of stuff that is absolutely on everyone’s mind.

On Halloween, Rue (Zendaya) worries about her reliance on Jules (Hunter Schafer), while Jules starts exhibiting concerning behavior. McKay (Algee Smith) questions his future in football. After a weird night with McKay, Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) spends time with Daniel (Keean Johnson). Business is booming for Kat (Barbie Ferreira) as she continues to push Ethan (Austin Abrams) away. Nate (Jacob Elordi) comes up with a plan to get his life back on track.

As we get into some of the final episodes of this season, what we wonder is this: What are we building towards? It could be more resolution, but it could also be more calamity and it’s easy to figure out how this story could swing in just about either direction. With there being a season 2 renewal at HBO, we know that there will be more story either way … but the creative team didn’t know about this renewal at the time of delivering the original story.
