‘Game of Thrones’ season 3 spoilers: Who’s joining Emilia Clarke in Morocco

As we have reported already, “Game of Thrones” is deep in the process of shooting season 3 now, and the primary focus at this very moment away from Northern Ireland are the scenes featuring Emilia Clarke’s Daenerys Targeryan front and center in Morocco.

For the first time, we now have seen some shots of the actress sporting her blonde wig in the city of Essaouira (which is doubling as Astapor from the books). You can view the photos over at Winter is Coming, and they feature a rather regal look for the Khaleesi that includes a royal blue garment over gray leggings.

So who is going to be joining Clarke in Morocco to work on a few scenes? Some of the faces that we have spotted thus far include of course Dany’s loyal companion Jorah (Iain Glen), and also some new characters to the TV series in Kraznys (Dan Hildebrand) as well as Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel). There will be plenty more new faces to come, and there were also a plethora of extras around shooting these scenes that are only briefly featured in some of these photos. Overall, we like the colorful look that is being presented for Astapor here; it is slightly less regal than that of Qarth, and there is a sort of wild ruggedness about it that is menacing while at the same time appealing to the eye.

The cast and crew will continue shooting in the country for at least the immediate future, though they will be finished by the end of the month to move on to their next destination away from Northern Ireland: Iceland, where they will spend a couple of weeks in November trying to wrap this up for the year. The new season premieres on HBO on March 31, 2013.
