SWAT season 3 filming begins; Amy Farrington new series regular

SWAT

For all fans of SWAT,CarterMatt has a double-dose of great news to spread today.

Let’s start with the  fist bit of good news — filming for the CBS show is underway in Southern California! Everyone’s getting back to work in hopes of delivering the best batch of episodes possible. Expect a lot of surprises, and also expect some new characters. It’s with the latter in mind that we come to you with the second announcement.

According to a new report from Deadline, Amy Farrington of GLOW fame is going to be coming on board in the role of Detective Lynch. The character description goes a little something like this:

Recommended by the Mayor as a tactical consultant to S.W.A.T., Lt. Lynch challenges the team’s normal strategies in the field. Not a S.W.A.T. officer, she is an experienced detective with impressive contacts all over Los Angeles.

Our first take on Farrington’s character is this — she can be both a tremendous friend to SWAT and also a rival. She’s not the sort of person you want to cross since she could make your life very difficult. She’s going to have differing opinions from Hondo and much of the team — the sort of thing you would expect given that she doesn’t come at cases from the same perspective.

Anytime that you have someone new coming into the picture, it’s always understandable if there are some worries. Viewers love a show like this because of the ensemble and you don’t want to see anything done in order to shake that up too much. Yet, sometimes having a new dimension to a show can be a good thing — even if Det. Lynch and Hondo have some differences, they’re coming into every operation with the same goal. They want to ensure that people are safe and bad guys are stopped dead in their tracks.

For some other news right now on SWAT season 3…

Be sure to head over to the link here. Remember that season 3 is going to premiere on CBS this September, and as a part of a new timeslot Wednesday nights at 10:00 p.m. Eastern. While moving into a new time can be the sort of thing that makes people nervous, we like the idea of this show and SEAL Team operating as a one-two punch of awesome action at the network.
