Is Endeavour renewed for a season 7 at PBS? Premiere date hopes

EndeavourIs Endeavour renewed for a season 7? Will you get a chance to see it again, and when is the premiere date going to be? If you find yourself wondering these questions leading into tonight’s finale on PBS or after the fact, consider this news your resource.

Let’s kick things off with the good news: A season 7 was formally ordered earlier this year! Because the show airs at a different time on ITV than it does here in the United States, sometimes work is started behind the scenes on the upcoming season while the current one is still airing stateside. That’s happening here. Production is going to take place on Endeavour season 7 this year, leading into some sort of launch in 2020. More than likely, you’ll see the show on British television early next year while PBS will kick off the latest batch of episodes in the summer.

For those of you who love thought-provoking television, consider this news a big win — kudos to ITV in general for continuing to show a great commit to quality drama.

In a statement (via Deadline), ITV’s head of drama Polly Hill had the following to say about the news:

We’re incredibly proud of Endeavour and delighted to have recommissioned the drama for a seventh series. Writer and creator Russell Lewis continues to engage viewers with carefully crafted stories for Endeavour and Thursday as we move into the 1970s. We’re grateful to the production team at Mammoth Screen for continuing to deliver such a high-quality drama.

The upcoming season is going to be set within 1970, and creator Russell Lewis seems to be eager to take this particular point in history on. Check out the following statement for more:

We’re thrilled ITV has asked #TeamEndeavour to continue to add to the Casebook of Colin Dexter’s immortal creation, and take E. Morse and Oxford’s Finest into a new decade of decimalisation, package holidays, the Oil Crisis, Blackouts, Three Day Weeks, and Europa Endlos.

No doubt, there will be a lot of content for the series to take on and that means both now and also in the future. We don’t foresee that Endeavour is the sort of series that is going to wind down anytime soon, mostly because there is no shortage of material … and nor do we want there to be. A big part of what makes this show so fantastic is that there is this ability to constantly take risks and bring new material to the table.

Were you glad to see Endeavour renewed?
