Animal Kingdom season 5 renewal odds: Are we inching closer to it?
The first thing you have to do when you consider a show’s renewal odds is this: Examine whether or not there is enough story to even merit a renewal happening! For now, we feel at least reasonably optimistic that there is in this case. We’re in the midst of watching a war unfold between Smurf and some of her own people, with characters like Angela and Adrian coming in and causing, intentionally or unintentionally, their own brand of chaos. We think that the stage is being set very much for something beyond just this year.
Do we think that this is the sort of show destined to go on forever? Probably not, given that the way that the Cody family does business, it’s easy to assume that eventually, we’re going to see them all flame out and spiral in some sort of fiery crash. Yet, we’re not there fully just yet — we think that there could be two more seasons’ worth of great story beyond this one and we’d end up happy.

As for the current ratings…
They make us fairly optimistic that an Animal Kingdom season 5 renewal will happen. While this season is averaging a 0.3 rating, down more than 15% from season 3, it’s down less than 10% in total viewers. This is the number that makes us a little more optimistic that, one way or another, this show is going to figure itself out. It just needs to figure out a way in which to keep those ratings steady the rest of the season and it should be able to do that. Animal Kingdom has one of the most stable, consistent followings of any series out there.
If we had to guess, we’d say that news on a season 5 renewal will be coming at some point before the season 4 finale later this summer. There’s no reason to think anything otherwise.
