Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular 2019 start time, lineup

Macy's Fourth

Want to know when and where to watch the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular this year? Consider this CarterMatt article your early guide to some of the great stuff coming up!

Tonight, this NBC event set in New York City (an annual tradition) is going to be starting up at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. Meanwhile, what it’s going to feature is some memorable performances, laughter, entertainment, and of course the fireworks at the tail end of it. For the full lineup of performances, including ones from hosts Derek Hough and Ciara, check out the official synopsis below:

NBC’s “World of Dance” judge Derek Hough and Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Ciara will co-host the evening. The hosts will also wow the audience with performances of their own, Hough with a dance performance and Ciara a musical medley. Luke Bryan, Khalid from his Free Spirit World Tour, Maren Morris and Brad Paisley will also perform before the fireworks begin. The broadcast will air Thursday, July 4 (8-10 p.m. ET/PT) with an hourlong encore presentation at 10 p.m.

The way that NBC structures this is pretty smart, given that people are often popping in and out from their televisions on the Fourth of July. If they don’t see the event when it’s first happening, this gives them a chance to play a little bit of catch-up later with the shorter special. It’s a way to make viewers feel a little bit more included in the festivities, especially if they live somewhere that doesn’t have a lot of fireworks displays or they just don’t want to be outside for extended periods of time. NBC is going with a heavy country-music lineup with Bryan, Morris, and Paisley, so clearly they are out to get some viewers from most of the southern United States.

The Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular is one of a couple different annual specials that are coming on the air tonight — PBS is also airing their own A Capitol Fourth, which you can read more about over at the link here. As we noted within that piece, it is separate from the event that is happening with the President in Washington DC a little bit later this evening.

You can see a promo for this year’s special, featuring the full lineup, at the bottom of this article.
