grown-ish season 2 episode 17 preview: Is Vivek crossing a line?
One of the biggest ones at the heart of this story is going to be cultural appropriation, something that unfortunately does happen on a regular basis. It takes away from someone’s culture and can attempt to snatch someone else’s identity. Even if done unintentionally, the end result can prove hurtful and that’s why there does need to be an awareness of it from all fronts. It also takes calling out when someone is doing it so that a difference can actually be made.
For Vivek, this could be at the heart of grown-ish season 2 episode 17 and some of what we end up seeing. Be prepared for an episode that raises some serious questions, but also still in a way that feels natural for this show. That means a tone that is still going to allow for moments of laughter and also work to build towards some sort of resolution. It all goes back to the title in a way, as this is a show about growing. It’s about looking at the person you are and wondering if there are ways to make things even better.

Vivek is getting a little too comfortable at Hawkins, sparking a heated debate over whether Vivek has crossed the line into cultural appropriation. Zoey does a service project to style a high school student for her prom.
The Vivek storyline is going to contain some serious moments, but we expect that this is going to be balanced out by some other fun stuff with Zoey. Styling a high school student for the prom is not the easiest thing in the world to do; it’s putting yourself in a position where someone is going to bark orders at you at almost every turn.
