Outlander season 5 notes: The latest fun tidbits from set

Outlander season 4Outlander season 5 is still within the throws of production, as it will be for many more weeks and months. It takes time to produce greatness, but we’re glad that in the midst of focusing on playing their characters and taking on some serious moments, there are opportunities for levity and a few smiles sprinkled in.

For one of these said smiles, just take a glimpse at Duncan Lacroix on Instagram below! We feel like he has to do more to adjust to his character than almost anyone else. The 47-year old actor becomes a much older man when he plays Murtagh — or, as he describes him here, a “tech-savvy old coot.” The background image shows you some of the setting that we’re seeing around the cast and crew these days — and that is something that is reverberated a little bit more by Lauren Lyle’s Instagram Stories. Over there, you get a sense of her traveling alongside Richard Rankin and Cesar Domboy to some sort of open field. Is there something of note happening there, or is this just a production base? In terms of the scenery, it is a different sort of environment to the more forested area of Fraser’s Ridge.

If nothing else, it’s a reminder of the diversity of terrain all around Scotland, which can look like a forest, a farm, and paradise depending on where you are within the region.

Tech savvy old coot 😎

On a different note…

There’s some fun behind-the-scenes content from Lauren that spans a couple of different social networks! After spending the weekend at the famed Glastonbury music festival, she traversed back to the set in desperate need of a cup or two (or three) of coffee (something we can related too since we are powered daily on the stuff). First, she created this post:

Then, she posted an Instagram Story earlier today with someone coming to her trailer with coffee — and plenty of it! There aren’t any spoilers here for season 5, but it’s some evidence that everyone on the set has a good sense of humor — and is just as tech-savvy as “old coot” Murtagh.
